NOVEMBER CONVENTIONS IN ST. LOUIS ST. LOUIS - October 31, 2008 - Fifteen hundred concrete professionals will meet in St. Louis for the American Concrete Institute Semi Annual Fall Meeting, November 2-6. The meeting will be held at the America's Center convention complex. The meeting theme is "The Spirit of Concrete." Meeting highlights include technical tours of the Ste. Genevieve Holcim Plant, a Concrete Mixer, and a Contractors' Day. Jeff Steinhart, vice president of engineering for Anheuser-Busch, will discuss the trends and innovations that are currently affecting the construction industry. There will also be more than 300 committee meetings, 35 technical and education sessions and vendor exhibits. The Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP) Conference will meet in St. Louis, November 9-12. A thousand members are expected to attend the conference. MAEOPP is the representative professional body for colleges, universities and agencies that host federally-funded TRIO educational opportunity programs within ten states in the Midwest. The specific purpose of MAEOPP is leveling the playing field of educational opportunity for first generation, low income, and disabled students. The Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP) International Conference will convene in St. Louis, November 11-13. ADRP is one of the largest meetings of donor relations and stewardship professionals in the world. Nearly 800 professionals representing education, health care, the arts and other nonprofit organizations worldwide are expected to attend the conference. The conference program will offer a diverse selection of breakout sessions. As many as 1,500 music therapists will gather in St. Louis, November 21-23, for the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Conference. AMTA's is the largest professional association representing over 5,000 music therapists, corporate members and related associations worldwide. Founded in 1998, its mission is the progressive development of the therapeutic use of music in rehabilitation, special education, and community settings. Special events include a Drum Circle with Arthur Hull, The Music Therapist: Unplugged with Paul Nolan, Cabaret, and Jam Rooms. Other groups meeting in St. Louis in November include the United States Fencing Association North American Cup Junior/Cadet/Youth 14 Competition, November 7-10, at America's Center convention complex; and the American Society of Criminology Annual Convention, November 12-15, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Riverfront. Public shows taking place at the America's Center convention complex in November include the Missouri State High School Activities Association Show Me Bowl, November 28-29. Attached is a list of the conventions, meetings, trade shows and special events booked or serviced by the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission for November.
